The 111th Oaks Stakes took place on Friday 7th June 1889 and was won by L'Abbesse de Jouarre (20/1), by Trappist out of Festive trained by Robert Sherwood, who won by a neck in 2 mins 45.00 secs. The winner won £2,600 (Equivalent to £312,000 in 2017) and there were 12 runners.
